Todd Mann Service Award Nomination Form

    Purpose

    To recognize individuals or organizations inside or outside the field of career and technical education for the highest meritorious contributions to the improvement, promotion, development and progress of SkillsUSA Florida. They should represent the fundamental principals and purposes of our organization.

    Criteria

    Individuals considered for the Todd Mann Service Award must have demonstrated a concern for SkillsUSA Florida through sponsored programs, publications, community service and other activities related to the SkillsUSA Program of Work. Nominees who have made contributions of significance to the state or national level will be most highly rated. Except under unusual circumstances, no more than one such award will be presented each year.

    Eligibility

    Active student members who have dedicated themselves to promote, enhance, and enrich the SkillsUSA Florida Organization are eligible recipients of this award. The recipient should spare no effort in upholding the ideals of SkillsUSA.

    Nomination

    Nominations to the Florida State Director will be accepted until a specified deadline. This award will be selected by the SkillsUSA Florida State Director.

Rookie Educator of the Year Award Nomination Form

  • Nomination deadline: February 28, 2021

    Purpose

    The circles in our emblem represent the challenge of modern technology and the training needed to accept and master new technical frontiers and the need for continuous education. The purpose of this award is to congratulate and encourage educators to remain in the profession. Recipients of this award must have made outstanding contributions toward innovative, unique and novel programs and have shown a professional commitment early in their careers with SkillsUSA Florida.

    Eligibility

    Individuals who are currently employed as full-time classroom/laboratory teachers in a career and technical education program, academy, cluster or small learning community are eligible for this award. Nominees must be a professional member for a minimum of one but no more than four years (Applicants may be in their fourth year of teaching at the time of application). Age is not a determining factor. (Candidates must be new Advisors for SkillsUSA within the fourth year window.)

    A nominee should have been involved in SkillsUSA Florida activities related to the SkillsUSA Program of Work at the regional, state and/or national levels.

Policymaker of the Year Award Nomination Form

  • Nomination deadline: February 28, 2021

    Purpose

    The shield as a part of our emblem denotes belief in our democracy, liberty, and the American way of life. The SkillsUSA Board of Directors presents this award annually to highly visible policymakers who have made contributions of significance at the local, state or national level to career and technical education, thereby enhancing, enriching, and improving SkillsUSA Florida and its membership.

    Criteria

    This award is presented to the individual or individuals who are determined to have made the most significant impact on policy related to career and technical education either during the past year or over an extended career of public service. (This award is limited to one recipient per year, and may be awarded posthumously.) The award is open to individuals having decision-making authority as evidenced by public or legal sanctions.

    Nomination

    Nominations to the Florida State Director will be accepted until a specified deadline. This award will be selected by the SkillsUSA Florida State Director.

    * Required

  • Provide at least 5-7 sentences detailing how the nominee has made the most significant impact on policy related to career and technical education at the local, state or national level, thereby enhancing, enriching, and improving SkillsUSA Florida and its membership, either during the past year or over an extended career of public service. Be as specific as possible, and provide links to video and other media when appropriate.

Image Award Nomination Form

    Purpose

    The gear in our emblem is symbolic of the industrial society, it denotes the interdependence and cooperation of the individual working with labor and management for the betterment of mankind. The SkillsUSA Florida Image Award is presented by the Florida SkillsUSA Board of Directors to recognize "celebrity" individuals who have brought positive attention to the career and technical education field, thereby enhancing the image of career and technical education.

    Eligibility

    Recipients of the award must be widely recognized persons—such as entertainment, sports and business celebrities—who have demonstrated by their actions and/or statements that they are supporters of career and technical education. It must be shown that the field of career and technical education clearly benefits through association with the nominee.

    Criteria

    Nominations to the Florida State Director will be accepted until a specified deadline. This award will be selected by the SkillsUSA Florida State Director.

Honorary Life Award Nomination Form

    Purpose

    The hands in our emblem portray a search for knowledge and our desire to acquire a skill. In the process of attaining knowledge and skill, we will develop a respect for the dignity of work and become productive and responsible citizens. This award is to recognize the contributions and distinguished accomplishments of those persons who have been identified with the work and purposes of SkillsUSA. The SkillsUSA Florida Honorary Life Award is a means by which SkillsUSA Florida provides recognition for the commitment and dedication that individuals may have demonstrated to the organization and its membership. Watchful and responsible selection of inductees shall be maintained to ensure the esteem and worthiness of the award. Once an individual has been named the SkillsUSA Florida Honorary Life Award recipient, that person remains an active member of SkillsUSA Florida for life.

    Criteria

    Inductees to the SkillsUSA Florida Honorary Life Award recipient shall be those distinguished persons who have been identified with the work and purposes of SkillsUSA Florida. The award will be presented only to SkillsUSA Florida members who have made a significant impact on the field of career and technical education at regional, state and/or national levels. SkillsUSA Florida Honorary Life Award inductees shall be limited to one annually, or at the discretion of the Florida State Director additional inductees may be recommended.

    Eligibility

    The award will be presented to distinguished persons who have been identified with the work and purposes of SkillsUSA Florida and whose contributions have made a significant impact on the field of career and technical education for a minimum of 10 years. Induction to the SkillsUSA Florida Honorary Life recipients may be posthumous.

    Nomination

    Nominees will be reviewed and voted on by the Florida SkillsUSA Board of Directors.

Advisor of the Year Award Nomination Form

  • Nomination deadline: February 28, 2021

    Purpose

    The flaming torch in our emblem reflects the light of knowledge, which dispels the darkness of ignorance. In the light of the torch, progress will be made toward the vocational goals of the individual. The objective of this award is to recognize career and technical educators in addition to full-time classroom/laboratory teachers, who have provided or currently are providing significant contributions to SkillsUSA and career and technical education programs for youth and/or adults in their fields, communities, and/or the State of Florida. Recipients of this award must have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique and novel programs; and/or improvement, promotion, research or development of programs of career and technical education.

    Eligibility

    Active SkillsUSA Professional Members who are currently employed as full-time certified career and technical educators, administrators, school guidance counselors, program specialists and other individuals involved in career and technical education are eligible recipients for this award.

    Nominations

    A nominee should have been involved in SkillsUSA Florida activities related to the SkillsUSA Program of Work at the regional, state and/or national levels and must have been a member of SkillsUSA Florida for at least the past five consecutive years.
