The State Leadership and Skills Conference is held each April and brings together students from around the state to compete for a spot at the National Leadership and Skills Conference. More than 1,500 students and instructors from across the state gather to participate in over 100 skills and leadership competitions. More than 100 business and industry partners participate as judges, volunteers, and financial supporters of the event.

  • The conference hotel is the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront. Room rate is $159 per room night, with up to 4 to a room. Reservations should be made directly with the hotel.
  • Registration is $110 per student, competitor, advisor, observer, chaperone, or model. Courtesy Corps registration is $25.
  • Registration includes:
    • Conference T-shirt and pin
    • Name badge with lanyard
    • Conference transportation to offsite locations
    • Admission to Champions’ Night Celebration, including dinner
    • Admission to Meet the Employer
    • Admission to Opening and Closing Ceremonies
  • Opening Ceremony will begin on Sunday, April 11 at 7PM (location TBA)
  • Contests will begin on both Monday, April 12 and Tuesday, April 13 at 8AM, with doors opening at 7AM
  • The CONNECTED Expo will be held Monday and Tuesday from 8AM to 3PM with 40+ business, industry and educational partners
  • Meet the Employer will be held Monday evening from 5PM – 8PM at the Hyatt with 50+ local, regional and national employers, ready to check out your resume and get you hired!
  • Champions’ Night will be held Tuesday evening with dinner, music, activites, and a special reception for our advisors called Chapter Connections (location TBA)
  • Aim Hire Student Professional Development, Advisor Professional Development, Community Service Project, Social Media Ambassadors, Glam Squad, and much more!
  • Closing and Awards Ceremony will be held Wednesday, April 13 at 8:30AM. Doors open at 7:30AM (location TBA)
  • Schools travel home following the Closing and Awards Ceremony

More information regarding registration, hotel, and general schedule will be released in February via the Tuesday Times. Contest schedule will be released by March 1, 2020.

Most competitive events will be held at the Hyatt. Contests will also be held at Florida State College at Jacksonville. The main campus is located less than 1 mile from the Hyatt, and additional locations are about a 15 minutes drive. Transportation is provided for conference registrants. All competitors and their advisors are required to stay at the conference hotel. Reservations should be made and managed directly between schools and the hotel.

Following the Closing and Awards Ceremony, there is a mandatory meeting for all Gold medalists and their advisors to obtain registration information about the National Conference. Information regarding the national conference will also be distributed via the Tuesday Times prior to the state conference.
