SkillsUSA is More Than a Contest
The SkillsUSA Championships is an incredible event that brings together the top students in a variety of categories. Competition is a great way to learn more about your trade, performing in high stress situations, and problem-solving in real-world scenarios.
But that’s not all SkillsUSA has to offer.
In addition to the Fall Leadership Conference and local events, developing student leaders is a vital part of our mission. Beyond competition, there are opportunities to learn and grow in skills such as leadership, decision-making, and professionalism. Each program is designed to emphasize a skill set aligned with the SkillsUSA Framework and is suited to all kinds of students.
Free or reduced registration costs are an added benefit!

State and Regional Officers
State and Regional Officers are the face of our organization. The teams participate in training throughout the year to be ambassadors for the organization and help execute our Program of Work.
State Officers are elected at the State Leadership and Skills Conference each year and are vital in each event and activity. They serve as faciltiators, advocates, and speakers, and participate in an on-going training throughout the year.

Regional Officers are elected at the regional level each fall to serve for the upcoming year. They participate in leadership and advocacy training, support regional events, and have an opportunity to attend the State Leadership and Skills Conference if they choose not to compete.
The Regional Officer Program Guide will be available on August 1.
Courtesy Corps Leadership Team and Team Members
The Courtesy Corps is responsible for the behind-the-scenes logistics of SLSC. The team is crucial in ensuring that materials, people, and food arrive where they need to be, when they need to be there. Participation in the Courtesy Corps at SLSC is also a competition, with select students advancing to the National Leadership and Skills Conference.
The Leadership Team is selected in the fall each year after submitting an application and completing an interview. The team commits to virtual training once a month leading up to the conference and learns valuable skills such as leadership, teamwork, and planning, organizing, and management. All expenses are covered by SkillsUSA Florida.
Courtesy Corps Team Members can apply by March 1. This is a great opportunity for students who may not have qualified for the state competition, for new students who aren’t ready to compete, or for any other student or professional member of SkillsUSA interested in servant leadership. Registration is reduced to $75, and schools are responsible for hotel and other costs.

The Glam Squad
The Glam Squad makes sure that our state officer team is stage-ready for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. These talented cosmetologists and MUA’s take care of our team’s hair and makeup, and attends the ceremonies with an All-Access Backstage Pass. Interested candidates will submit an application with photos showcasing their work, and can apply for hair, makeup, or both. Competitors are encouraged to apply!
Upon completion of the required activities, Glam Squad members will receive a rebate of $175 for their conference registration fee.

Social Media Ambassadors
Social Media Ambassadors help manage our social media channels during the conference. The team completes a virtual pre-conference training on responsible social media usage and is responsible for planning, capturing, and posting content. Interested candidates will submit an application, along with links to current social media channels (must be public). Competitors are encouraged to apply!
Upon completion of the required activities, Social Media Ambassadors will receive a rebate of $175 for their conference registration fee.
